Last week we saw Darren Dutson Bromley and Jenni Molloy aka Jazz, Blues & Beyond and I’ve gotta say – they we’re rockin! Darren has a really intuitive style of guitar playing which just seems to work, whether he’s playing Ellington, Kern or Cobain – yes, they started an impromptu version of Nirvana’s “smells like teen spirit” but in a light, bluesy slick style – not what anyone was expecting to hear – much applause followed! Our latest addition to the line-up at Stray’s is the delightful Gypsy Jazz sound of Swing 1664. This band usually play as a 5-piece with Double Bass, three guitars & clarinet.
