Matt Chandler Trio – guitar genius…
The gig on Thursday was immense. The Matt Chandler Trio played songs from their new album but also some standards – although they were anything but standard! My favourite was their version of ‘all blues’ which is probably best known from the album ‘kind of Blue’ by Miles Davis. And I’ve posted a short and albeit poor quality snippet of video of Matt exploring the opening track ‘jitterbug’ from the new album.http://youtu.be/8cjwW7a-2EIPlus this one shows the level of genius Matt Chandler has!http://youtu.be/3fzTMVs1psYAlso, some pics courtesy of Oscar & Beata Papierz http://www.creative-photography.ifp3.com/

Lisa puts on a cracking breakfast and the house is truly elegant – and more importantly it’s only ten minutes away from Stray’s (so please tell her we sent you!)They have seven different bedrooms, each with a different element of elegance and charm, which is complimented by real, old-fashioned customer service from the proprietors.Recently reviewed in The Guardian, a stay at Compton House B&B after a night at Tapas y Stray’s promises to make a…
HOT OFF THE PRESS! Matt Chandler Group – it goes like this…
Ian Beestin, drummer with the Matt Chandler Trio/Group will be dropping off their new album ‘ it goes like this’ on Monday July 11.It’s literally hot off the press so if you want to reserve a copy, please let the bookshop know (01636 613 764) I’ve only heard the track entitled ‘Stray’s inexplicably’ which was so titled after a soundcheck at Stray’s when the band played here last year! So I’m really keen to get my hands on the complete album – based on what I’ve heard so far, it’ll be an album to savour slowly and repeatedly! And if you haven’t already booked for the Matt Chandler Tapas & Jazz event, I’d recommend you do…
